  • event services
  • food and catering

The remaining 30 percent of operating funds come from lodging industry taxes, government contributions, and investment earnings.

MERC brings solid business practices to public facility operation. Our agency administrators and staff approach MERC venues with an experienced private-sector perspective to ensure effective and prudent management. To maintain long-term fiscal viability, we are pursing the following strategies:

Governance

Regional representation serves the public interest
MERC is subsidiary of Metro, an elected regional government. We are governed by a citizen Board of Commissioners who are recommended by local area governments and appointed by the Metro Council president. Our board members represent Metro, the city of Portland, and Washington, Clackamas and Multnomah counties, and a commission term is four years. The Board of Commissioners meetings are held monthly.
